The President made the bold declaration during his first State of the Nation Address on Thursday, February 27, 2025 in his second term.
John Mahama stated that he will fix the economy because it is the reason Ghanaians voted him into power.
“Mr. Speaker, today is inspired by the Almighty God and propelled by the massive mandate given to me by the good people of Ghana, I am moved to make a purposeful and bold declaration that I John Dramani Mahama, I will fix the economic crisis confronting the country and rest it on a path of growth and prosperity,” he said in Parliament.
He added: “My government working with you and every Ghanaian will solve the challenges because we have worked on the plan with the people’s support.”

The President also admitted that Ghana’s economy is in distress, describing the current situation as an “unprecedented crisis”.
“The state of our nation is not good. Our economy is in hardship, and our people are suffering an unprecedented crisis,” Mahama stated, setting a frank and urgent tone for his address before Parliament.
Despite the challenges, the President reaffirmed his commitment to steering Ghana toward recovery, emphasizing that he is focused on solutions rather than complaints.
