President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Germany to participate in the Munich Security Conference, a high-profile gathering of global leaders, policymakers, and security experts focused on addressing pressing international challenges.
The President, who will be away to February 17, will also attend the African Union (AU) Conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Speaking to journalists at the Jubilee Lounge of the Kotoka International Airport before the President’s departure, Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Presidential Spokesman and Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, emphasized the significance of President Mahama’s participation.
He noted that the President, as Chairman of the Tana Forum—a leading African security think tank—would contribute to discussions on evolving strategies to enhance security across the continent.
“In a fast-evolving and complex geopolitical environment where security is high on the agenda, it is necessary for the voices of prominent African leaders to be heard on the subject,” Mr. Ofosu stated.
President Mahama is scheduled to participate in the opening forum of the Munich Security Conference, where he will engage in bilateral discussions with several world leaders and organizations. These discussions will focus on strengthening Ghana’s diplomatic and economic ties with the international community.
Additionally, the President will deliver a speech at a side event organized by the Tana Forum. As Chairman, he will outline his vision and perspectives on emerging security challenges in Africa and beyond.
The President is expected to return to Ghana on Monday, February 17.
