President John Dramani Mahama has terminated COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah’s appointment as the Executive Director of the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO).
According sources at the presidency, COP Addo-Danquah has been instructed to hand over her duty and return to the Ghana Police Headquarters for reassignment.
The directive comes amidst efforts by the government to restructure EOCO, an agency tasked with investigating and prosecuting economic crimes and corruption.
President Mahama’s decision is believed to be aimed at reinvigorating the agency and addressing public concerns over its recent performance, particularly in high-profile financial crime cases.
COP Addo-Danquah, who was appointed EOCO boss in January 2022, brought with her a wealth of experience from her long career in the Ghana Police Service.
However, her tenure at EOCO faced scrutiny, with some critics questioning the agency’s handling of major investigations.
