Traditional leaders from across the Ashanti Region and beyond have converged at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi to commemorate the revered Akwasidae festival with His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene.
The Akwasidae celebration, held every six weeks, is a significant cultural event in the Ashanti Kingdom, serving as an occasion to honor the ancestors, preserve Ashanti heritage, and strengthen unity among the people.
This particular gathering saw an impressive display of traditional regalia, drumming, dancing, and pageantry, underscoring the rich cultural heritage of the Ashanti Kingdom.
The president, John Dramani Mahama is expected to attend the ceremony together with some high profile persons within the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
