Ghanaian actor, politician, and entrepreneur John Dumelo has announced the heartbreaking loss of his father, Engineer John William Kudzo Anato-Dumelo Snr., in an emotional tribute shared on social media.
In the post, John Dumelo recounted his final moments with his father, revealing the deep bond they shared. “At age 75, you lived your life well,” he began, describing how his father had called him for an intimate conversation just hours before his passing.
“Yesterday, you called me several times to come see you. We sat on the bed and spoke at length about politics, life, farming, and business, and of course, we gossiped. We spoke about my swearing-in in three days’ time, and you told me specifically to serve diligently in government,” John Dumelo wrote.
Tragically, just minutes after leaving his father’s side, John Dumelo received a call informing him that his father had become unresponsive. Despite rushing him to the hospital, his father passed away shortly afterward.
Dumelo expressed his profound gratitude and love for his late father, calling him his best friend, number one cheerleader, and a guiding force in his life. “Thanks for being my father, thanks for being my best friend, thanks for being my number one cheerleader, and thanks for everything you did for me,” Dumelo wrote, adding, “Say hi to mum for us all… we will miss you. Rest in perfect peace.”
The late Engineer John William Kudzo Anato-Dumelo Snr. was celebrated as a devoted father and mentor who significantly influenced Dumelo’s personal and professional journey.
The news has drawn widespread condolences from fans, colleagues, and prominent figures across Ghana and beyond. John Dumelo, who is set to be sworn into public office in three days, has not only become a household name in Ghana’s entertainment industry but has also transitioned into politics, embodying his father’s values of diligence and service.
