A widely circulated video, along with descriptions from those sharing it online, claims that former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan recently slaps Sammy Awuku’s brother-in-law over allegations of being scammed.
According to the sources Asamoah Gyan has accused a close associate of Sammy Awuku, the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), of scamming him in a multi-million-dollar promotion deal. Gyan, who was reportedly contracted to promote NPP’s presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, claims he was defrauded of $5 million by the brother-in-law of Awuku.
The alleged scheme unfolded as Gyan was set to receive significant payments for his promotional efforts on behalf of Dr. Bawumia’s campaign. However, according to Gyan, the brother-in-law manipulated the terms of the deal and ultimately failed to fulfill his financial obligations. The situation reportedly escalated to a heated confrontation, where Gyan almost resorted to physical violence.
Asamoah Gyan’s accusations have thrown a spotlight on the integrity of campaign dealings and have raised questions about the oversight of financial transactions within political promotions. The NPP and Sammy Awuku have yet to officially respond to the allegations.
