It has emerged that some persons usually students who visit the Kintampo Waterfalls in the Brong Ahafo Region on excursion, allegedly have sex on the site, an act which is an abomination against the river god.
According to Nana Effa Guakro, Kyeremanko Hene of Kintampo, he’s publicly warned on several occasions the repercussions that this detestable act could bring as the gods are angered by the practice and frown upon it.
The Chief’s comments come in the wake of the unfortunate incident where 18 persons died after hilltop trees crashed on them following heavy rains on Sunday at the Kintampo Waterfalls.
The victims were mostly students from the Wenchi Methodist Senior High School who had gone to the venue on excursion and were swimming at the time of the disaster. About 22 others who sustained injuries are receiving treatment at the Kintampo Government Hospital.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii sen show Monday, Nana Effa Guakro, Kyeremanko Hene stated that because the youth are too young to understand things of the spiritual realm, they refuse to pay heed to the warnings given them.
“If we tell them to stop doing certain bad things at the waterfalls site, they don’t listen and decide to do what they want. I’ve caused to be made several announcements on radio speaking against such bad behaviours, if they treat the river with respect, the river (god) will also serve them well.”
He disclosed that the chiefs and elders will consult the gods to investigate what might be the cause of the unfortunate incident that has thrown the entire area into a state of shock and mourning.
