300GH PEACE AMBASSADORS CONDEMN CLASHES OF POLITICAL PARTIES

It has come to the attention of 300GH Peace Ambassadors recent clashes between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) suporters in recent times.

As a group, we are with the strongest believe that events of this nature in the lead up to elections are unhealthy for our nation.

We are of the view that politics must be a contest of ideas and its practitioners must reflect their desires and interests in serving the larger interest of the people other than fighting as we approach the 2016 elections.

Ghanaians are faced with critical challenges that require efforts channeled towards resolving them. We are indeed taking aback by the rate at which political violence is crippling into the Ghanaian society few days into elections.

We admonish Ghanaians to embrace peace before, during and after the elections. We also call on the leadership of the political parties to rally their supporters on the basis of ideas and not on the basis of their muscles.

We also want to charge political parties to make a solemn commitment to include sessions of peace on their campaign platforms in order to drive home their commitment for peace before, during and after the elections.

To the people of Ghana, let us peacefully coexist for our common good. We must drive home a point that we cannot be used on the alter of sacrifice to the realisation of the ambitions of a group of people. Let us stay united, and let’s keep Ghana together beyond December 7, 2016.

Thank you!
