Former Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has sparked an uproar on social media with certain unwarranted comments directed at two members of the Majority in Parliament.
The Member of Parliament for Damango Constituency, Jinapor, made disturbing remarks on the floor of Parliament towards the Member of Parliament for Korle Klottey, Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings.
Hon. Agyemang-Rawlings, who is the daughter of one of Ghana’s most illustrious leaders, the late Flight Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings, was referred to by Hon. Jinapor as the “daughter of a murderer.”
“Daughter of a murderer, sit down! Na sɛ evidence wɔ hɔ sɛ ne papa kum nipa (there’s evidence that her father committed murder),” he said while Minority Leader, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, was on the floor.
He further proceeded to mock the Member of Parliament for the Ningo-Prampram Constituency, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, saying, “Sam George, who calls himself ‘Gyata’ (Lion), is now in the pocket of his wife.”
The events of Tuesday’s parliamentary sitting have left a bitter taste in the mouths of neutral political enthusiasts, judging by social media commentary.
