President John Dramani Mahama has praised Ghana’s recent economic progress, describing the country’s recovery as a testament to sound leadership, national resilience and collective sacrifice.

Speaking during the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving after participating in prayers with the Muslim community at the National Mosque, the President said Ghana had made notable strides in restoring economic stability despite challenging global conditions.
According to him, the country’s turnaround did not happen by chance but was the result of deliberate policy decisions, disciplined economic management and the determination of Ghanaians to overcome difficulties.
President Mahama noted that Ghana’s economy is increasingly being recognised across the continent for its performance, highlighting its ability to withstand external pressures, including uncertainties arising from conflicts in parts of the world.
He stated that while the measures introduced to stabilise the economy demanded patience and sacrifice from citizens, they were necessary to rebuild confidence and lay the groundwork for long-term growth.
The President pointed to several positive indicators as evidence of the recovery, including a decline in inflation, improved stability of the cedi, lower debt levels and stronger foreign reserves. He also indicated that investor confidence had improved, creating a more favourable environment for business expansion and economic activity.
“Through the collective efforts of government and the resilience of our people, we have made significant progress in rebuilding the economy,” he said, adding that the country was now better positioned to navigate global economic uncertainties.
President Mahama stressed that the gains achieved so far should translate into tangible benefits for ordinary citizens. He said the ultimate goal of the recovery agenda is to create jobs, support businesses, increase opportunities for young people and improve living standards across the country.
He further urged Ghanaians to remain united and continue supporting efforts aimed at sustaining economic growth and national development.
The National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving brought together religious leaders, public officials and citizens from different faiths to offer prayers for peace, prosperity and the continued progress of the nation.
