Police at Odumase-Krobo in the Eastern Region have arrested three suspects after uncovering 105 bundles of suspected counterfeit US dollar notes concealed in a metal trunk during a raid at Laasi.

According to the police, the operation was carried out following intelligence gathered on the suspected illegal activity in the area. During the search, officers discovered the bundles of what is believed to be fake US currency carefully packed inside a metal trunk.
Police say one of the suspects allegedly attempted to bribe the arresting officers with GH¢200,000 in a bid to evade arrest. The officers, however, rejected the offer and proceeded with the arrest.
The three suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations. Authorities say they are working to determine the source of the suspected counterfeit currency and whether it was intended for circulation within the country.
Police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that anyone found to be involved in the illegal operation will face the full rigours of the law.
