The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Enterprises Agency, Margaret Ansei, has underscored the critical role of the public sector in enhancing the competitiveness of small businesses across Africa.

Speaking at the 10th Edition of the Africa Kaizen Annual Conference in South Africa, Mrs. Ansei delivered a presentation on “Kaizen and the Role of the Public Sector in Strengthening SMEs.”
She outlined how the Government of Ghana, through the Ghana Enterprises Agency, is rolling out key initiatives aimed at supporting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in line with its mandate as the apex institution for MSME development in the country.
According to Mrs. Ansei, Kaizen principles—focused on continuous improvement in quality and productivity—remain central to Ghana’s strategy to position its SMEs as competitive players within regional and continental value chains.
The conference, which brought together stakeholders from across the continent, provided an enriching opportunity to exchange ideas, learn from shared experiences, and explore best practices in quality and productivity improvement.
Mrs. Ansei concluded by reaffirming Ghana’s commitment to advancing industrialization efforts and fostering resilient enterprises capable of competing on the African market and beyond.
