Voting in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primary has officially ended, with counting of ballots currently taking place at various polling centres across the country.

While the process has generally been calm, reports from a handful of locations suggest instances of alleged vote inducement. Party officials, supported by security agencies, have stepped up monitoring to ensure the integrity of the exercise.
There were also isolated cases where individuals found operating unauthorised body cameras were apprehended, sparking concerns about adherence to the party’s electoral guidelines.
Despite these developments, the overall atmosphere of the primaries has been peaceful and well-organised. Party leaders have appealed to delegates and supporters to maintain order as collation of results continues nationwide.
The NPP has reiterated its resolve to uphold transparency and fairness throughout the process, stressing that all reported breaches will be investigated and dealt with accordingly.
Five candidates are vying for the party’s presidential slot: former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia; Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong; former Minister for Food and Agriculture Dr. Bryan Acheampong; former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum; and former General Secretary of the party, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.
