President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama are in Beijing, China, to participate in the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women, hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping in collaboration with UN Women.
The high-level meeting brings together world leaders, policymakers, and global advocates to discuss concrete strategies for advancing gender equality and empowering women across all sectors of development.
President Mahama’s participation underscores Ghana’s firm commitment to promoting women’s rights, leadership, and social inclusion, while also strengthening bilateral relations with China.
During the visit, the President and First Lady are expected to hold strategic meetings aimed at deepening Ghana–China cooperation, exploring new investment opportunities, and fostering partnerships that support Ghana’s national development agenda.
The First Lady, Lordina Mahama, a passionate advocate for women and children, will also engage with global counterparts and development partners to share Ghana’s progress in women’s empowerment and social welfare initiatives.
The event forms part of ongoing international efforts to accelerate the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, which remains a cornerstone for achieving gender equality worldwide.
