Tema Central Constituency Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ian Okwei Tabalor, has raised concerns about what he describes as his wrongful dismissal from the Tema Development Company (TDC) Limited.
TDC Managing Director, Courage Makafui Nunekpeku, has said Ian Okwei Tabalor’s appointment was terminated over alleged involvement in questionable transactions.
His sack from the Tema Development Company Limited is linked to his alleged facilitation of the sale of a public plot of land at Tema Community 5 to his wife for GH₵2,000. The land was originally designated for the construction of a public toilet facility.
Speaking with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Eyewitness News, Ian Okwei Tabalor, said he had not been given any official reason for his dismissal, though he had accepted the decision in good faith.
He said he was appointed to the role after applying through a public job advertisement.
“My file for recruitment is available in the company. My letter stating that I was terminated is in the company. I was terminated without any reason. I have served and worked in the company, and the MD has the opportunity to make certain decisions he wants to make. I have accepted which decision he has taken against me in good faith,” he stated.
Ian Okwei Tabalor added that he had not acted in any way to tarnish the company’s reputation and noted that he received his termination letter while on leave.
“I have not gone against the company in any way to tarnish the name of the company in any way. While I was on leave, I was given the termination letter, which was all. I have gone through the procedure for me to exit the company amicably. I don’t think I want to banter with anything or tarnish the image of anybody,” he stated.
