The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has dismissed reports claiming that President John Dramani Mahama was snubbed for this year’s Bar Conference.
In a statement issued on Thursday, August 21, the GBA described the publications as “false, misleading, and a misconception of facts.”
The Association clarified that President Mahama has been duly invited and has accepted to attend the 2025 Annual Conference in Wa, the Upper West Regional capital, as the Guest of Honour.
“As far back as March 2025, the Bar Council paid a courtesy call on the President and extended an informal invitation. Thereafter, we sent a formal invitation letter dated 21st July 2025, which was received at the presidency on 29th July 2025. Subsequently, the GBA received an acceptance letter from the presidency dated 1st August 2025, with Ref. No. OPS 311/25/2817,” the statement read.
The GBA further explained that it is standard practice to circulate initial notices of its annual conferences to members while awaiting responses from invited guests, including the President of the Republic.
It stressed that this year’s planning and organisational process has followed the same procedure as in previous years.
