The Government of the Republic of Indonesia has extended a heartfelt condolence message to President John Dramani Mahama, the people of Ghana, and the families of those who perished in the recent Akofrom-Adansi helicopter crash.
In an official tribute signed by H.E. Paskal A. B. Rois, Honorary Consul of Indonesia in Ghana, the Indonesian government expressed profound sorrow over the tragic deaths of Ghana’s Minister of Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah; Minister of Environment and Member of Parliament, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed; two members of the Ghana Armed Forces; and four others who were on board the ill-fated helicopter.
“This heartbreaking event has deeply shaken us. We mourn alongside the people of Ghana during this difficult time,” the tribute stated, acknowledging the dedicated service and patriotism of the deceased.
The Indonesian message, issued on behalf of the Ministry of Defence, the Indonesian Embassy in Abuja, and the Honorary Consulate in Accra, emphasized that the tragedy represents not only a national loss for Ghana but also a significant blow to the African continent and its global partners.
“These distinguished sons of Ghana served with distinction, honour, and a true spirit of patriotism,” it noted. “Their loss is a great loss to nations like Indonesia that share strong diplomatic and developmental bonds with Ghana.”
Indonesia reaffirmed its solidarity with Ghana and assured the bereaved families of its support and prayers during this period of national mourning.
“May their souls rest in eternal peace,” the tribute concluded.
