Veteran journalist and media advocate, David Tamakloe, has officially declared his candidacy for President of the Private Newspaper and Online Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG), pledging to usher in a new era of progress, unity, and support for media professionals across the country.

Tamakloe, a former Vice President of PRINPAG, is widely respected for his dedication to the growth and development of the Association.

His campaign has been met with enthusiasm from members who view his return as timely and necessary for revitalising the organisation’s role in Ghana’s evolving media landscape.

With a rich academic background that includes a Diploma in Journalism, a Bachelor’s degree in Law, and a postgraduate degree in Development Communication, Tamakloe brings a unique mix of journalistic, legal, and communication expertise to the race.

In his campaign message to PRINPAG members, Tamakloe outlined an ambitious agenda centred on strengthening the Association’s capacity, improving member welfare, and promoting excellence in journalism.

Key pillars of his vision include:

Expanding advertising opportunities for member publications to improve financial sustainability.

Elevating the annual PRINPAG Awards through robust corporate sponsorships to boost recognition for outstanding journalism.

Forging strategic partnerships with both public and private sector institutions to drive advocacy and innovation.

Establishing a welfare system to support journalists facing health or economic challenges.

Launching a “Back to Reading” campaign to promote literacy and community engagement.

Organising media games to encourage networking and camaraderie among members.

Rolling out targeted training and capacity-building programs to enhance the skills of media practitioners.

“David Tamakloe is the leader PRINPAG needs at this critical time,” said one member endorsing his bid.

“He understands the challenges we face and has the experience and integrity to lead us into a stronger future.”

Known for his open-door leadership style and commitment to unity, Tamakloe has emphasised the need for inclusive governance and greater member participation in shaping the Association’s direction.

With PRINPAG elections looming, many see Tamakloe as a frontrunner whose experience and clear roadmap set him apart.

His campaign slogan—“Vote for progress. Vote for unity. Vote David Tamakloe”—is resonating across the membership base.

The election is expected to be a defining moment for PRINPAG, as members prepare to choose a leader capable of navigating the complexities of modern media while championing the interests of journalists and publishers nationwide.
