A letter to this effect released by Minister in Charge of Government Communication said their names have been submitted to Parliament for approval.
“President John Dramani Mahama has, in accordance with Articles 78(1) and 79(1) of the Constitution, submitted the names of the underlisted to Parliament, through the Speaker, for prior approval to serve as Deputy Ministers,” Mr Kwarkye Ofosu said on July 9.
They are; Ministry of Transport- Dorcas Toffey, MP for Jomoro Constituency, Ministry of Foreign Affairs- James G. Quayson, MP for Assin North, Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations- Mohammed Adam Sukparu, MP for Sissala West and Ministry of Health- Grace Ayensu-Danquah, MP for Essikado-Ketan.
This list completes the sixty ministers promised by the President.
The nominees will now await their dates with Parliament’s Appointments Committee for vetting.
The fifty-six ministers and their deputies were nominated, vetted and approved earlier and have since been working.
With this development, President Mahama has made history as the head of state with the least ministers.
