President John Dramani Mahama has announced that Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang will return to Ghana this week after making a full recovery from a recent illness.
Speaking during his ‘Thank You Tour’ in Dodowa in the Greater Accra Region on Friday, May 16, President Mahama expressed gratitude for the Vice President’s improved health and readiness to resume her official duties.
“I’m happy to state that I spoke to her yesterday morning, and she will be back in the country this week. By God’s grace, she is fully recovered and ready to return to her duties,” he said.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang was reported to have suffered a sudden illness on Friday, March 28, 2025, and sought medical attention at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) the following day.
On medical advice, she began a three-week medical leave on April 7, 2025, and travelled abroad for further treatment as a precautionary measure to ensure a full recovery.
Her return is expected to bring renewed energy and continuity to government business as she resumes her responsibilities after a period of rest and recuperation.
