The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), Ms. Margaret Ansei, has paid a courtesy call on Japan’s Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Hiroshi Yoshimoto, as part of efforts to deepen diplomatic engagement and enhance collaborations in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector.
During the meeting, Ms. Ansei expressed Ghana’s appreciation for Japan’s longstanding support, which has spanned over a decade, particularly in the areas of funding and technical cooperation. She acknowledged Japan’s contributions in strengthening the GEA’s mandate and fostering economic growth through various capacity-building initiatives.
H.E. Yoshimoto reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to supporting MSME development in Ghana, highlighting both existing partnerships and upcoming initiatives. He commended the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) for its pivotal role in implementing the Kaizen Project, an initiative aimed at enhancing productivity and efficiency in businesses. The ambassador further emphasized the importance of institutionalizing Kaizen principles, beginning at the primary education level, to drive long-term economic transformation.
Also present at the meeting were Mr. Isaac Nimako, Acting Director of the MSME Innovation and Development (MSID) unit at GEA, Mrs. Mary Nkrumah Inusah, Senior Strategy Coordinator at GEA, as well as representatives from UNIDO Ghana, including Mr. Kipo Dari, the National Project Coordinator.
The discussions reinforced the strong partnership between Ghana and Japan in promoting sustainable economic development and advancing MSME growth.
