NPP’s 2024 Election Review Committee is ‘bogus’ – Adwoa Safo

Former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo has described the NPP Election Review Committee headed by Prof. Mike Oquaye, established to look into the loss of the 2024 elections as a “bogus” committee.

The former lawmaker who lost her seat in the 2024 primaries of the party said the Prof. Mike Oquaye Committee has only been established to push away a particular candidate and make way for a new presidential candidate.

Adwoa Safo believes the Committee lacks the credibility to do a good job.

“A very bogus committee. A committee that is put together and it’s an intentional committee put together just to make sure that we find certain facts and push out certain candidates away from the candidacy so that you can bring your own, you call that a credible fact-finding committee?” she quizzed.

The former Gender Minister noted in an interview on JoyNews on March 20, 2025 that Prof. Mike Oquaye is conflicted and would not present a fair report.

“If Prof. Mike Oquaye thinks that he has integrity, he has credibility, I want the first page of his fact-finding report, why his son Mike Oquaye Jnr lost his seat, he should give us a detailed report on that.

“If he is able to do it and do it with the needed integrity, without biases and prejudices and with transparency, I will take any report finding that he puts in there against Dr. Bawumia, other than that, the report will not work in this party.

Your backyard is burning and you think the best person to lead a fact-finding committee like that, that constituency included, will do a thorough job for you? Why don’t you go for an independent person? There are other credible members, I am attacking the chair not other members, couldn’t we have found anybody else?” she explained.

Adwoa Safo further said that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will bring former Vice President and former Presidential Candidate of the NPP in the 2024 general elections Dr Mahamudu Bawumia back in the 2028 general elections.

She says that Dr Bawumia is marketed and deserves to be president because he is a hardworking person.

“We are bringing Bawumia back,” she said on Joy News on Thursday, March 20.

“Dr Bawumia is the best person, he has been marketed, and we will market him, every person deserves a second chance,” she said.

She stressed, “Nobody should; come and tell us that we shouldn’t bring Dr Bawumia…nobody is God…we had time for Nana Akufo-Addo and we will have time for Dr Bawumia.”
