Prominent Ghanaian businessman Alhaji Asoma Banda has passed away. The news of his demise was announced by Nigerian publisher Dele Momodu, who is known to have close ties with the late entrepreneur’s family.
Expressing his condolences, Momodu revealed that he had reached out to Alhaji Banda’s widow, Mrs. Edwina Baaba Banda, to offer his sympathies.
“Ghana’s iconic businessman, ALHAJI ASOMA BANDA, has passed on… My sincere condolences to his entire family and the good people of Ghana. I have just spoken to his widow, MRS. EDWINA BAABA BANDA, and commiserated with the family. ALHAJI was a father figure to me… On this first day of March and Ramadan, may Allah forgive his sins and grant him Aljanah Firdaus,” he wrote in a Facebook post on Saturday, March 1, 2025.
While details surrounding his passing remain undisclosed, Alhaji Banda had reportedly been battling an illness in recent years.
Born in June 1933, the late businessman was a highly respected entrepreneur, business magnate, and philanthropist. He was the Chairman of Antrak Air, a fully Ghanaian-owned airline that played a significant role in the country’s aviation industry.
