The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has asked its members to stay at home from February 20, 2025.
According to the leadership of the Association, the strike action has become necessary because of the appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway as the Registrar of Births and Deaths Registry.
This is contained in a press release dated February 13 and signed by the Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe.
“The National Executive Council (NEC) of CLOGSAG made this decision after a meeting on February 11, 2025, to address concerns about the appointment of politically exposed persons in the Civil Service and Local Governments.
“The National Executive Council (NEC) decided that should Mr. Samuel Adom Botchway assume office as Registrar of Births and Deaths Registry, CLOGSAG should declare a nationwide strike.
“The Council noted that Botchway, a politically exposed person, assumed office as the Registrar of Births and Deaths Registry on February 12, 2025, hence the decision to declare a nationwide strike starting on Thursday, February 20, 2025,” Mr Bampoe wrote.
