President John Dramani Mahama has assured Ghanaians of urgent efforts to address the plight of schoolchildren in Asuokow, a community in the Eastern Region, who are forced to cross a dangerous water body daily to access education.
In a Facebook post, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer revealed that his team has identified the affected community and is working toward a permanent solution.
“We have identified the community where young schoolchildren have to cross this water body to access school,” Mahama stated.
He further disclosed that the Member of Parliament for Lower West Akim, Owen Kwame Frimpong, visited the area earlier today to assess the situation. According to him, the MP assured the community that the Eastern Regional Minister would also visit soon as part of efforts to resolve the challenge.
Mahama reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing education and healthcare under his “Reset Ghana” agenda, emphasizing the need to remove obstacles hindering development across the country.
“Our quest to Reset Ghana includes a determination to remove barriers to education and healthcare across the country,” he wrote, urging collective efforts to build a better nation.
The plight of the Asuokow children highlights the broader infrastructural challenges in Ghana’s rural communities, reinforcing the call for improved access to essential services.
