The vetting of Linda Ocloo, the Greater Accra Regional Minister-designate, has officially set a record as the shortest vetting session in the history of Ghana’s 9th Parliament.
Ocloo, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for the Shai-Osudoku Constituency, began her vetting by introducing herself to the Appointments Committee.
However, before she could finish, the minority leader and ranking member of the committee, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, interrupted—not with a question, but with a warm acknowledgment of her presence and entourage.
Afenyo-Markin praised Ocloo as a commendable member of the House and extended his congratulations.
Following this, the chairman of the committee and First Deputy Speaker, Bernard Ahiafor, also welcomed Ocloo’s guests and, in an unexpected move, immediately discharged her.
The entire process was so brief that Ocloo didn’t have the chance to complete her introduction, leaving many attendees and Ghanaians viewing the process on TV puzzled.
Despite the brevity, the vetting has etched its place in the records as the shortest in terms of duration, sparking curiosity about the reasons behind the committee’s expedited conclusion.
