Parliament has approved Dzifa Gomashie as the new Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, tasking the seasoned actress and former deputy minister with steering Ghana’s tourism and creative arts sector toward growth and global recognition.
On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, Abla Dzifa Gomashie appeared before the Appointments Committee for vetting to determine her confirmation as the Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts.
Her nomination for the role was announced on January 16, 2025, through a statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Acting Spokesperson to the President.
Dzifa Gomashie previously served as the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture under the Mahama administration from 2013 to 2017. She is also a two-term Member of Parliament for Ketu South, where she has been instrumental in promoting development and community empowerment initiatives.
She holds an MPhil in African Studies from the Institute of African Studies and also graduated from the University of Ghana with a diploma in Theatre Arts and a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Management.
