Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, has announced that his ambitious digital skills training program, aimed at empowering one million young Ghanaians, will kick off with 5,000 youth from the Kwadaso Constituency.
Speaking at a “Constituency Connect” event in Kwadaso, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that this initiative is designed to equip young people with crucial digital skills, such as coding, that will allow them to secure remote work opportunities with companies worldwide.
“This digital skills program is a transformative pathway to job creation,” Dr. Bawumia said, describing it as a potential “game changer” for Ghana’s employment landscape. “We’re focused on empowering the youth through technical, vocational, and, most importantly, digital skills. The world is digital now, and so must our approach to job creation.”
Dr. Bawumia expressed confidence that young people, including school dropouts, can be trained to work remotely for companies across the globe, from Kwadaso to the United States, Canada, and Singapore. “My vision is to see at least one million young Ghanaians skilled in digital fields, starting right here with 5,000 from Kwadaso,” he stated, highlighting his commitment to enabling youth to access international work opportunities without leaving their communities.
