Stop talking, my son didn’t kill anyone with a gun – Salifu Amoako

Bishop Salifu Amoako, father of the 16-year-old boy involved in a tragic accident that claimed the lives of two young girls in East Legon on October 12, 2024, has called for calm, asking Ghanaians to stop speculating about the incident.

Addressing his congregation at Alive Chapel International on Sunday, October 20, the prominent religious leader expressed frustration with the ongoing discussions surrounding the accident, which he described as an unfortunate event rather than a deliberate act.

Bishop Amoako defended his son, clarifying that the boy had not committed an intentional crime.

“It was an accident,” he said, adding “My son did not carry a gun to kill anybody. He involved himself in a terrible accident, and I am not the one who did it, nor his mother. It is my name, that is why people are talking.”

The bishop believes that public interest in the case is heightened due to his well-known status. “If this had been an Okada [motorcycle] accident, who would mention it? It’s only because of my name,” he added, urging people to stop talking and trust that “the Lord will intervene.”

The accident, which involved the boy driving a Jaguar, resulted in a fatal fire that trapped and killed the two girls. Since then, the incident has ignited widespread debate and public scrutiny, with questions raised about the circumstances leading to the tragic crash.

Despite the sorrow of the event, Bishop Amoako asked his followers and the public to remain patient and allow due process to unfold, expressing faith that the truth would come to light.
