The Ministry of Religious and Chieftaincy Affairs and the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs have suspended the operation of the La Traditional Council indefinitely.
According to Enoch Addo, the Registrar of the House of Chiefs, the suspension aims to allow the Regional House and Ministry to implement measures for the Council’s smooth operation.
All governmental institutions have been directed not to engage with individuals or groups claiming to represent the La Traditional Council.
Paramount Stool Land issues are also on hold pending the Council’s reopening or the enstoolment of a new La Paramount Chief, as stipulated in Section 45 of the Chieftaincy Act.
Meanwhile, the Registrar of the La Traditional Council has been instructed to hand over Council property to the Regional House for further directives.
