Hajia Fati Amadu,a one-time vice chairperson aspirant of the New Patriotic Party,NPP and a die in the wool Akufo Addo fanatic,has expressed remorse and deep regret for the role she was made to play by the internal detractors of the beleaguered National Chairman of NPP,Mr. Paul Awinteme Afoko in the run up to his illegal suspension.
Haji Fati who spoke to Eva Boateng Appau of the weekly guide was in tears as she recounted everything vividly to the reporter.She claimed she was contracted by the flagbearer of the NPP Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo and people close to him,to run down Mr. Afoko with concocted lies and fabrications which were never to be.
Hajia Fati said she was told by her sponsored paymasters to attack the person of Mr. Afoko and others because to them they represented a big threat to their quest for controlling party funds in the run-up to the November 7th polls.Secondly, she said they were told of some agenda 2020 and were asked to undermine President Kuffour and anyone who was seen to be his loyalist in order to kill the Kufuor faction in NPP,leaving only the Akuffo Addo blog to project Dr. Mahamoudu Bawumiah after the flagbearer’s tenure.
Hajia Fati who also recounted how herself and one Hajia Buoya, a self-acclaimed aide to the former upper east regional chairman of the NPP,Adams Mahama were coached to lie about his death,laying all the blame at the doorsteps of Mr. Afoko and his family.She further went on to say that the two of them were promised various trips outside Ghana with the flagbearer and his running mate if they performed their sponsored tasks to perfection.
She says after all that she did to her own “northern brother” as she affectionately referred to Mr. Afoko,She was unable to sleep because Mr. Afoko had always been there for her family and herself.She even narrated how Mr. Afoko rented an apartment for her at Nima and the numerous monies she had gone to solicit from the man for her own upkeep.
Hajia Fati said she was part of a recent trip to Germany by the running mate of Nana Addo,Dr. Bawumiah as a fulfilment to one of the promises but is still not at peace with herself.She ended by saying she knew in her heart that chairman Afoko was innocent of all the charges levelled against him but she did all she did because of money.
She said she was looking for an opportunity to meet Mr. Afoko and render an unqualified apology to him for the harm done. Attempts to reach Mr. Afoko for his reaction proved futile
