NPP delegates conference: Adams Mahama’s death should not be in vain – Freddie Blay

The Acting Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged party delegates and grass-roots supporters to uphold the passion demonstrated by the party’s Upper East Chairman, Adams Mahama, who died after an acid attack on him earlier this year.

Freddie Blay told the over 6,500 delegates and party supporters at the ongoing extraordinary delegates’ conference in the Brong Ahafo Region that Adams Mahama’s passion for the progress of the party and development of Ghana must not be lost on them — urging them to work together to secure victory for the party in 2016.

The ongoing NPP Extraordinary Delegates’ Conference will among other things outdoor the party’s 2016 campaign team.

“It is up to us to make sure that Adams did not die in vain,” he told delegates and supporters at the parked Coronation Park in Sunyani.

Adams Mahama died at the Bolgatanga regional hospital following an acid attack on him by unknown assailants in May this year.

Gregory Afoko, brother of suspended NPP Chairman, Paul Afoko, is currently before court for his role in the acid attack that killed Adams Mahama.

“Let me stress we shall not be satisfied with anything less than the arrest and prosecution of the people responsible for the death of Adams Mahama,” Freddie said.

The Acting National Chairman also touched on the recent death of Abubakar Saddique, a party loyalist, who also died after an attack on him in Asawase.

Saddique was stabbed to death for allegedly threatening to beat up the constituency chairman who is reported to have made some unpleasant comments about the party’s flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo.

The police arrested the constituency chairman, Mr. Brenya and six others, suspected to have masterminded the attack.

A one-minute silence was observed for Adams Mahama and Alhaji Sadique.

Freddie asked the party delegates to work towards change in 2016.

“We all have to make sure that we make Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo the next President of this country,” Freddie Blay charged the delegates.
