Nii Noi Sues NPP Over Klottey-Korle Loss

The defeated New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary aspirant for the Klottey Korle constituency, Nii Noi Nortey, is considering legal action against the party after his loss in Saturday’s primaries.

Nii Noi lost out to Philip Addison in a re-run of the August 2 primary, the outcome of which the latter had contested in court.

The case was upheld by the court, which then ordered that the polls be rerun.

Addison polled 396 out of the 765 votes cast at the headquarters of the NPP and beat Nii Noi Nortey, who polled 367 votes.

In a reversal of roles, Nii Noi rejected the results, with several reports indicating that he was considering contesting for the seat as an independent candidate in November.

However, Nii Noi’s camp has indicated that the hopeful might look to the courts to get the results overturned.

His secretary, Immaculate Quarshie told Citi News in an interview: He’s with his lawyer. He didn’t sign the document and we would have beaten him up if he had signed it. Looking at the analysis from 6 to 10 pm, what changed? It doesn’t make sense.

“We are going to put an injunction on the election. We won’t vote NPP without Nii Noi and it’s a final deal. No Nii Noi, no NPP, no vote. They’ve snitched Nii Noi, they have ditched him totally,” she added.

Philip Addison, who has been basking in his success on Saturday, called on Nii Noi to put aside his personal interests and work in the interest of the party as they attempted to claim the seat from the NDC.

He told Citi News: “Before this election, I had pledged that whoever emerged victorious, I would work with that person so that the party will take the seat. I expect that he [Nii Noi] will reciprocate that pledge and also come together so that we work for the party.

“We can only hope that they will come together, if they love the party. At the end of the day. It is the party that is Supreme and we want to take the seat from the NDC. We can only do so if we are united.
