Annor Dompreh apologizes over MPs ‘Dubai orientation’ gaffe

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Nsawm-Adoagyiri, Frank Annor Dompreh has apologized for his earlier suggestion in parliament that the state should use tax payers’ money to airlift fresh MP’s to Dubai for induction seminar.

Annor Dompreh made the comment on the floor of parliament shortly after Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu announced in the legislative assembly that an induction seminar was to be held for fresh MP’s.

The three-day orientation for the new Members of the House scheduled to be held at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration in Accra will afford them the opportunity to be equipped with the necessary guidelines to facilitate their work as legislators.

The comment by Frank Annor Dompreh has been met with stiff opposition by some Ghanaians and Minority caucus in parliament who hold the view that the MP’s suggestion, if adopted, would have a drain on the national kitty.

However, speaking on the GOLD POWER DRIVE with Samuel Eshun Thursday, Frank Annor Dompreh said his comment was taken out of context.

He maintained what he said was ‘’entirely in the context of humour so people should not quote” him out of context.

‘’If someone says Accra Dubai in the context of humour, what is the big deal about? In any case if that is what people think, I never said that…and if they have gotten the wrong impression, I apologized.’’ Frank Annor Dompreh said on Radio Gold.
