Akufo-Addo Mocks Ghanaians

After tearing his party apart, sacking every member, who dares disagree with him, the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, has interestingly assured Ghanaians that, he would treat everyone with the utmost respect, when voted into office as President.

Addressing residents at Ateiku in the Wassa East Constituency of the Western Region, Nana Addo, further pledged to “guard the public purse” in order to improve the livelihoods of the citizenry.

Ironically, Nana Akufo-Addo’s leadership, has been the most divisive one in the history of the NPP.

Party leaders, including elected National Chairman, Paul Afoko, General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong, First Vice Chairman, Sammy Crabbe, among other regional and Constituency executives, have been suspended for openly disagreeing with the NPP flagbearer.

At least two of the individuals, Paul Afoko and Sammy Crabbe, are in the Court of Appeal contesting their suspension from their elected executive positions.

His leadership, has also been the worst in terms of accountability to the party’s rank and file in the management of the party’s funds.

It is during his time as party leader that, the NPP, has also witnessed the creation of secret bank accounts at Ecobank Ghana Limited, where party funds are used for personal stuff, including his numerous medical treatments abroad.

The secret bank accounts, became a police case with the acting National Chairman, Lawyer Freddie Blay, invited by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), but he snubbed the law enforcement agency.

This happened after a party member, Kofi Baah Acheamfour, petitioned the CID to investigate the siphoning of the party’s cash by Mr. Blay and National Treasurer, Kwabena Abankwah.

Again, his divisive leadership style, which has caught the attention of many, including President John Mahama, has resulted in near death at the NPP headquarters in Asylum Down in Accra.

The confusion in the NPP, led to the death of the Upper East NPP Regional Chairman, Adams Mahama, following an acid attack on him in May 2015.

Gregroy Afoko, a younger brother of Paul Afoko, is currently in custody standing criminal trial for the murder of Adams Mahama.

Another member of Asawase NPP in the Ashanti Region, Abubakr Saddiq Mohammed, was also stabbed to death.

Mohammed Atuluk, an aide to Paul Afoko , escaped death by inches, following physical attacks on him by the Invincible Forces, who are security men around Nana Addo himself.
Atuluk leaves with a permanent injury in one of his arms.

The advent of Akufo-Addo, has also seen the emergence of the Bolga Bulldogs, which have many times clashed with the Invincible Forces.

Gunshots have been heard reverberating from the NPP national head office. Properties, including cars of many officers, particularly suspended General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong, vandalized in the compound of the office.

Despite these, Nana Akufo-Addo, has promised “I am not coming into office to lord it over the people. Neither am I coming into office to use disrespectful language. I will not say to Ghanaians that they have short memories. I am also not coming into office to steal anyone’s money to fill my pockets. That’s not why I am seeking your mandate.”

He indicated that he is seeking to be President in order “to use the little wisdom, knowledge and strength the good Lord has given to help move Ghana forward, so we can create wealth, jobs and prosperity for all Ghanaians.”

“Every nation whose leader has love for the country, is experienced, and is backed by an able team of competent men and women, is a nation which will transform its circumstances and improve on the livelihoods of its citizenry within a relatively short period of time,” he added.

Nana Akufo-Addo, also promised to devise measures, including the payment of significantly higher producer prices of cocoa, above the levels which the NDC administration, has provided to farmers in the last eight years; the reintroduction of bonuses scrapped by the NDC government; and the reintroduction and non-politicization of the mass spraying exercise and the hi-tech programmes when given the nod in 2017.

The NPP flagbearer, visited some areas, including Mpohor, Shama and Effia constituencies, and climaxed his tour with a mini-rally at the Takoradi Polytechnic which the Mahama government has converted into a Technical University.

Interestingly, the Deputy Minority Leader of Parliament Dominic Nitiwul, has advised suspended National Chairman of the NPP and General Secretary to come out and campaign for the party’s flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo, despite their suspension.

According to him, such a gesture will show their true love and believe in the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition.
Speaking on Starr Chat Wednesday, the Bimbila MP, told host Bola Ray that the two must still campaign for the elephant family, in spite of their issues with the party.

“I think Afoko and Agyepong must come out and campaign for Nana Addo. I don’t doubt their love for the party but they must join the campaign and push for change. If I were suspended today , I will still campaign for the NPP. So I am saying the two of them must not wait to be called, they themselves must push to join the party’s campaign.

“Nana Akufo-Addo doesn’t call people to join the campaign; you yourself must find out where the campaign is and then you join to show your love and commitment to the party,” he stressed.
