TENSION MOUNTS UP IN ASHAIMAN CONSTITUENCY OF THE NPP

Tension mounts up in the New Patriotic Party in the Ashaiman Constituency as some concerned members of the party have petitioned the Constituency Chairman over the appointment of the Deputy NASARA Coordinator.

According to the concerned members in a petition signed by one Musah Mohama Mayanga cited by this Reporter and copied to the party’s National Office, Regional Office and the various Electoral Areas Coordinators indicates that, the appointment of Alhaji Mahamid Hammed is not right and violation of the party’s constitution.

To them, Alhaji Mahamud Hammed is one of the current Executive Members of National Democratic Congress (N.D.C) Branch Five of the Nii Doku Electoral Area in the Ashaiman Constituency and also one of the founding members and Chairperson of John Mahama Fun Club in the Ashaiman Constituency.

“Our party constitution does not allow persons who are not members of our party to contest or be appointed to occupy a position in the constituency executive committee” they stressed.

Pointing out that, “In our little wisdom we believe that if this appointment is allowed to stand, our party’s secrets and privacy is in danger”.

With regards to this, they believe and know their concerns are genuine and factual base on their personal knowledge and investigations conducted about the appointed person by the party in the Ashaiman Constituency.

This act according to them, has generated a lot of tension within the NDC as well with many of them calling him antagonist.

Meanwhile, the NPP party’s Muslim members resided in the Nii Doku Electoral Area have vowed to quit the party if the appointment is not reverse.

Therefore, they see this appointment as a constitutional abuse and call on the Executive Committee of the party to reverse it to save the party from confusion and misunderstanding.
