NPP lied about 200 missing vehicles to allow them import luxurious cars – NDC

The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Koku Anyidoho has denied claims by the government that over 200 official cars are nowhere to be found at the presidency.

According to him, the NPP is only making up the claims to enable them make preparations towards purchasing luxurious cars for Ghana’s upcoming 60th anniversary, which will subsequently be used at the presidency.

“They [NPP] wants to go and purchase fleet of luxurious vehicles and they want to justify it, so they will say vehicles have been stolen so they can go and purchase these new set of wheels,” he said in an interview on Accra-based Neat FM.

The Director of Communications at the presidency, Eugene Arhin on Wednesday indicated that the president, Nana Akufo-Addo has been forced to use a 2007 model of a saloon car within Accra due to the absence of the state vehicles.

“President Akufo Addo is currently using a 2007 BMW model purchased by the state during the Ghana @50 celebrations…That is what he is using. So where are the cars?” he questioned.

Mr Arhin further told Accra-based Neat FM that the president also uses his own private vehicle when going on a long journey for official duties.
“Just this last week Saturday, the president had to use his private Land Cruiser for an official duty in Kyebi. That is the same Land Cruiser he used during the campaign time” he said.

However, Koku Anyidoho said that “They [NPP] should go and retrieve it if they know where those cars are and stop harassing people. You just watch this space and see the luxurious cars they will import into this country to celebrate the Ghana @60. We are all here.”
