We don’t owe GACL $3 million; decision to shut down our terminal regrettable — McDan Aviation

McDan Aviation has refuted claims that it owes the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) $3

million, describing the reports as erroneous.

In a press release dated December 30, 2024, the aviation company expressed

disappointment over GAL’s decision to deny access to its Fixed Base Operator (FBO)

terminal despite ongoing discussions to resolve outstanding matters.

“McDan Aviation does not owe GACL

$3,000,000.00 on the terminal as erroneously reported,” the statement signed by CEO Kwaku

Ampronfi clarified.

The company acknowledged its financial obligations regarding the terminal’s use and operations and revealed that it had made

“significant payments previously” and an additional payment just last week.

According to McDan Aviation, further payments were planned to resume in January 2025.

The statement also addressed a separate legal dispute over a parcel of land acquired from

GACL, which is currently the subject of court proceedings due to litigation by a third party.

“GACL is aware of this situation, and we have communicated that payments will remain on hold until the court case is fully resolved,” the release added.

McDan Aviation criticized GAL’s actions as regrettable, arguing that the matters involved are unrelated.

“It is regrettable that GACL has chosen to take this line of action, particularly when the matters at hand are not interconnected.” the statement read.
