President Akufo-Addo’s ADC Colonel Isaac Amponsah, on Friday January 3 collapsed live on television while providing protection to him in Parliament as he delivers his last State of the Nation Address (SoNA)).
The incident forced the President’s address to temporarily halt for few minutes to ensure that he is taken care of before resuming.
Colonel Amponsah, who was standing right behind the President, the Chief Justice Gertrude Esaaba Sackey Torkorno, suddenly fell on his right hand side following which security officers on duty quickly dashed to the scene to contain the situation.
He was rushed from the scene to other side of the house where members of the judiciary were seated and provided what looks like first aid before taking him out.
Moments later when President was told the situation has been calmed, he resumed his address.
He was subsequently provided security by a senior police officer after which another senior Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), officer came to change the police officer while the address was on going.
The ADC was later taken away by the Ambulance in Parliament. By 12:17am, the president brought his speech to a close.
On February 2023, Colonel Amponsah replaced Major-General Bismark Onuonah, who was reassigned to the Army Headquarters as Commandant of the Training and Doctrine Command at the Ghana Armed Forces.
Before becoming the ADC of the President, Colonel Amponsah served as the Chief Instructor at the Military Training Academy and was stationed at the Defence intelligence Unit at General Headquarters.
