We won’t threaten our way into power –John Mahama

President John Mahama has given the assurance that the National Democratic Congress will not threaten Ghanaians just so they could be kept in power.

According to the President, the ruling party will surrender completely to the will of the electorate, come November 7, when Ghana goes to the polls.

“Our campaign will be based on the issues that matter most to our people. We will not threaten our way into power, neither shall we make unwarranted attacks on critical state institutions like the electoral commission.

“We will surrender completely to the will of the Ghanaian people in whom sovereignty resides. And we shall not say anything or act in any manner that will jeopardize the security of this nation,” Mr Mahama told a gathering of NDC faithful at the party’s 24th anniversary celebrations in Accra.

He continued: “Falsehood, malicious rumors, irresponsible use of the media including the social media and insulting political rhetoric shall have no place in our campaign. We will not make violence a part of our political activity. Decency and decorum shall be our watch word as we make our case to the Ghanaian people for reelection”.

The frontrunners in the impending elections are President John Mahama and the NPP’s Nana Akufo-Addo who is making a third attempt at the Flagstaff House.
