The attention of the NDC Youth Wing has been drawn to attempts by the New Patriot Party government to remove the image of the former President, John Dramani Mahama, from the Nchumuruman Community Secondary School, in the Nchumuru District
The conduct of the NPP, which was resisted by the youth groups of Chinderi, nearly resulted in political conflict between the supporters of the two parties
The wing is deeply saddened by the action of the leadership of the NPP in the area.
It is alledged, that the Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, directed the District Chief Executive of the area, Augustine Appiah to see to the removal of the image.
The thug that was incharge of this backward conduct, was led by no less a person, than the NPP Constituency chairman for the Nchumuru Constituency, Mr Danso Essiam.
The conduct of the NPP is reminiscent of the dark days of the mid sixties, what took place in this country, after the UP tradition, masterminding the overthrow of the Convention People’s Party government in 1966.
The destruction of the legacy and the works of Dr Kwame Nkrumah, was the order of the day.
The NDC Youth Wing, would respond in equal measure any attempt by the NPP to destroy the legacy of the NDC in the Volta Region.
The greatest challenge the people of this region are facing today, is the lack of access to the basics of life.
The NDC is expecting the NPP government to focus their time and energy on the developmental issues that affect the Volta Region
We are expecting the Nana Akuffo Addo led-government to build on the solid record of John Dramani Mahama government in that part of the Volta Region.
It is our expectation as a wing, to see this administration continue from where the NDC left off, as far infrastructure development is concerned.
The building of several basic schools, construction of the Community Secondary School, numerous health facilities, and the improvement of the road network, are some of the major projects of the NDC in the area
The Volta Region would not be a comfortable zone, for the leaders and the supporters of the NPP, if government and party attempt to take for granted the peaceful nature of the NDC.
It is the desire of the NDC to continue to promote the peace and development of the region.
For the records, we would like to remind the NPP, that the people of this region, are waiting for the fulfilment of the campaign promises made in 2016. The dams not yet delivered, the factories we are waiting for, our teacher trainees waiting for the allowances, school children looking forward to their chocolates, and schools waiting for the free Wi-Fi.
As evidence, we provide pictures from the school, where the NPP wanted to destroy former President John Mahama’s image
