Parliament Resumes Sitting Next Week

A statement signed by the Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho, indicated that the main issues that will be considered will be those that deal directly with the constitutional provision regarding the end of the life of Parliament and its subsequent dissolution.

It further noted that in fulfillment of Article 67 of the constitution, the President of the Republic will present the State of the Nation address to Parliament next week Thursday, December 22.

The Speaker is recalling the House from recess to complete the remaining business of the sixth Parliament.

The MP’s went on the recess on November 3 to participate in the 2016 general election.

It is still unclear how long sitting will last but issues bordering on the payment of ex-gratia of members are expected to feature in deliberations.

Meanwhile, registration for members of Parliament elect for the 7th Parliament starts from the 19th to 23rd of December, 2016 at Parliament House.

A statement issued in Accra and signed by the Deputy Director of Public Affairs Kate Addo, said the MPs will be issued with ID Cards that will enable them to vote in the selection of a speaker and other officials for the 7th Parliament.
