NPP wasted a year of my term – John Mahama

President John Mahama has accused the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) of wasting one full year of his of his first term in office with the party’s election petition that challhttp://ghanapoliticsonline.com/enged the 2012 presidential results at the Supreme Court.

Addressing some chiefs in the Volta region as part of his ‘Accounting To The People’ tour Tuesday April 19, Mr Mahama said what he has been able to achieve in two-and-a-half years was “phenomenal” considering, according to him, that the NPP “wasted” his first year in office with litigation.

He appealed to the people to give him a second term victory in the November poll.

“Threeand-a-half years ago, you swore me in as your president. You swore me in based on a manifesto that we presented to the people of Ghana and in that manifesto, we said we were going to improve the infrastructural development of this country in the areas of electricity, water, healthcare, education, road network, economy and all that other areas that we presented to you. On the basis of that you gave us a mandate to rule for four years.

“Unfortunately, one year of that period was taken in court litigation, and, so, one year of our mandate was wasted in litigation in the court. And, so, a lot of what we have achieved really is on the basis of the two-and-a-half years we have had the peace of mind to work in this country. And if you look at the track record and what we have been able to achieve, it is phenomenal,” Mr Mahama said.

The President also assured the chiefs of completing the Eastern Corridor roads.http://ghanapoliticsonline.com/

“So, today we are in the Volta region. We started from Dodi Pepeso and at Dodi Pepeso, I commissioned the first completed segment of the Eastern corridor roads, which is a 47.4-km stretch going all the way from Dodi Pepeso to Nkwanta. The road is completely finished, it has been handed over and it has been officially put into use.

“We are working hard on the other stretches of the Eastern corridor roads because I know that this is a project that is high on the hearts of the people of the Volta region”. http://ghanapoliticsonline.com/
