President John Dramani has assured the chiefs and people of Nanum Traditional Area in the Northern Region of the government’s resolve to arrest and prosecute the people who murdered the overlord of the area, Naa Dasana Andani Abdulai two years ago.
He said investigations are still on-going since there is no statute of limitation on crime such murder cases.
President Mahama said this when he conferred with the Regent of Bimbilla, Nyelinboligu Naa Yakubu Andani Dasana and 20 of his sub-chiefs at the Flagstaff House in Accra.
He lauded the chiefs and people of Nanum for the relative peace in the area.
President Mahama said government through the security agencies will continue to work with the traditional authority to maintain the prevailing peace in the area alongside the investigations.
He assured the people of Nanum of their fair share of development. They should therefore take advantage of the opportunities available and improve their living condition.
The Regent of Bimbilla, Nyelinboligu Naa Yakubu Andani Dasana, who succeeded his late father, was optimistic that the murderers will be brought to book.
He asked the President to provide a garrison and also complete the on-going construction of a police station with accommodation in the area.
He appealed to President Mahama to upgrade the Bimbilla and Wulensi Hospital to a trauma centre in view of the reconstruction of the Eastern Corridor road.
He offered to give government 100 thousand acres of land to be irrigated to boost farming in the Northern Region.
