Ho Nurses Training College gets 400-seater capacity classroom block

The Ho Nurses Training College has benefited from a 400-seater capacity classroom block to ease the infrastructural deficit at the College.

The classroom block which is an initiative of the MP for Ho Central, Benjamin Kpodo has other ancillary facilities such as laboratory, a conference room, offices, stores and washrooms.

Commissioning the edifice, the Minister of Health, Alex Segbefia said that government is committed to ensuring that health institutions in the country produce quality health professionals to cater for the health needs of the citizenry.

He said government has upgraded the infrastructure of most health institutions in the country to enhance teaching and learning.

Mr. Segbefia commended trainee nurses for their academic performances and urged them to take their lessons seriously.

He admonished Ghanaians to cherish the peace and stability the country offers to enhance peaceful coexistence.

The MP for Ho Central, Benjamin Kpodo noted that the project fulfills the objective of expanding access to education and training as well as creating jobs for youth by the government.

He urged the College to take advantage of the facilities provided to improve upon the quality training that will make it an institution of choice for prospective healthcare professionals.

The Principal of the Ho Nurses Training College, Josephine Ansu-Gyeabour commended the MP for the initiative noting that the College has over the years been compelled to admit below the admission quota allocated by the Ministry of Health due to the inadequate infrastructure.

She added that the school’s enrollment has increased by 32 per cent as a result of the edifice.

Mrs. Ansu-Gyeabour mentioned inadequate residential accommodation for students and staff as a challenge currently facing the College.

She therefore, called on government and other stakeholders to help solve the problem as well as assist in the furnishing of the newly commissioned classroom block.
