Help eradicate domestic violence – HFFG urges

Hope for Future Generations (HFFG), an Ghanaian NGO advocating the eradication of domestic violence against women and children has tasked the government, stakeholders, the general public and the media fraternity to join hand deal with domestic violence in the country.

Hope for Future Generation made this known in an interaction with the press in Tarkwa of the Western Region on 24th November 2017 and according to HFFG, the rampant increasing of sexual violence, rape, forced marriage, Human trafficking and defilement are still canker and threat to the country as many communities practice defiant behaviours.

“Our own study of media reports conducted this year indicate at least an incidence of sexual violence reported every week”, Hope for Future Generations revealed.

HFFG also took the media into how the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against women came about and the benefits of it.

Hope for Future Generations (HFFG) is objectively sensitizing media personal to support education, awareness creation and proper reporting on sexual and Reproductive Health and violence against women and children.

The Project Co-ordinator, Madam Theresah Esi Davis expressed worry over recent case happened at Assin Adadientam in the Assin North Municipality of the Central Region on how the residents felt reluctant to report a 17 year old alleged of defiling a 4 year old child which took the intervention of the media to reach the requisite authorities.

On the part of the press men, Daniel Kaku, the Western Regional Correspondent for Ghanaweb expressed his profound gratitude to the NGO for the opportunity offered them and pledged his unflinching support for the NGO.

He also charged the media in the country to come onboard to create awareness for the citizenry on how to educate the them on their rights especially human right.

The Organization is to initiate 5 year program being implemented by a consortium made up of three NGOs; SMAVI, Solidaridad and healthy entrepreneurs. The project seek to work towards economic empowerment of women living and Artisans and small scale Gold mines in Ghana and Tanzania.
