Ghana is not in a ‘sorry’ state-Mahama responds critics

President John Dramani Mahama has refuted claims by his political opponents that Ghana is in a ‘sorry’ state. The President said, Ghana cannot be described as a “troubled country in crises” when his government has done a lot to transform the lives of Ghanaians.

Presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo Addo accused the ruling NDC of running the nation down through incompetence and mismanagement, and urged for a change to make him president of the country at the November 7 polls. http://ghanapoliticsonline.com

Nana Akufo-Addo said the NPP’s campaign is targeted at “every single Ghanaian who is depressed and dejected at the sorry state in which our country is”.

But President Mahama in an interview with GBC’s Sunrise Radio, said Ghana is not out of the woods although a good of our people are vulnerable, however government will continue to work to improve their lives, he added. President Mahama said, every single project of his administrations is meant to empower every single Ghanaian to help eradicate poverty in every part of of the country.

”I wouldn’t say that we are out of the woods; I know a good number of our people are vulnerable and government will continue to work to improve their lives. That’s why we building hospitals in other that they can have access to healthcare; that’s why we are building new secondary schools so that our children can have access. We will expand the free education for day students to cover boarding students progressively,” President Mahama stated.

He admonished Ghanaians to believe in the country because we can equally make it, just like any other country in the world. He further pledged to offer Ghanaians an accountable and transparent form of governance. ”As Ghanaians, if we believe in ourselves and we believe in our country, we will be able to make it like other countries have done. I pledge to continue to provide a leadership of integrity, truth and transparency so that, people will know the leadership emphasize with what they are going through.”
