Fake abortion doctor arrested in Bukom for rape

Police in La have arrested a 41-year-old man identified as Godwin Dzadza for allegedly performing illegal abortions, extorting monies, and raping patients in the process.

The suspect was arrested after he kidnapped his latest victim at Chorkor, a suburb of Accra, raping her for four consecutive days following her inability to pay for the cost of the abortion.

According to Superintendent Oduro Amaning, the La District Police Commander, the victim, Josephine Grace Agyei, who lives at La, reported to the police that she got pregnant in December 2016 and a friend asked her to see the suspect if she wanted to get rid of the pregnancy.
The victim had the abortion at the doctor’s office at Bukom in Accra. But because she did not have the full amount being requested for, she was forced to leave her iPad with the suspect after making part payment.

She was, however, ready to pay the rest of the amount but when she called the doctor, he indicated that he was busy and attending to some meetings.
The victim, after some time, spent the money. The suspect subsequently called her asking for his money but she could not raise the money and hence was forced to give in to his demands to have sex with him as payment.

The suspect, after the act, locked the victim up and had sex with her again for four days. He provided the victim with food but she was not allowed to take her bath.

The Police said the suspect agreed to give the victim an amount of GHS400 but he failed to do so. He also failed to return the lady’s iPad.
The victim was, therefore, compelled to report the matter to the police.
The suspect was subsequently arrested but he said that he was a nurse and not a doctor.

He, however, could not provide the name of the health facility he worked at.

The police later retrieved some instruments from the suspect’s abode where he allegedly committed the practice.
Superintendent Amaning cautioned the public to be wary of such imposters and stay away from patronising their services.
