Alhaji Bature reveals why Ken Agyapong wants Ibrahim Mahama jailed

Managing Editor of the Al-hajj Newspaper, Alhaji Iddrisu Bature has disclosed what he says is the reason why Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP), Kennedy Agyapong is bent on having businessman younger brother of former President John Mahama, Ibrahim Mahama jailed.

The Assin Central MP, during former President Mahama’s tenure, accused Ibrahim of benefiting from fraudulent deals from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government because his brother was at the helm of affairs.

Since power changed hands, Mr Agyapong has consistently stated that Ibrahim would go to jail under President Nana Akufo-Addo and recently betted his life over a sure jail term for Ibrahim in the days ahead.

“I will take in poison and kill myself if Ibrahim Mahama is not jailed, he should watch and hear me well, I will take in poison and die if Ibrahim is not jailed…,” he said last Thursday.

But speaking on Adom TV’s Badwam on Monday, Alhaji Bature, disclosed that Mr Agyapong was pained by the fact that Ibrahim, has been able to buy a private plane and he [Agyapong] has not.

Mr Agyapong, who bought a customised Rolls Royce worth about GHC8 billion to celebrate his 50th birthday, is reported to have hinted of his intention to buy a private jet on his 55th birthday.

But two years after, that intention is yet to materialise while Ibrahim who is the CEO of Engineers and Planners, became the first person in Ghana to own a private jet, an American Bombardier CL 600 worth an estimated US$35million which he says he got as a collateral from a business deal.

According to Alhaji Bature, Mr Agyapong’s campaign was only borne out of jealousy over the achievements of the former president’s younger brother

He also revealed that thee was a feud between the families of the two people hence his interest in disgracing him.

Mr Agyapong who was a co-panelist on the programme, however, denied the allegations saying he was not jealous of Ibrahim and did not have any feud with his family.

“I was the first person to commend him on his private jet so I’m not jealous of him”, he stated.
