AKUFO ADDO HAS BEEN DISAPPOINTING AND DISASTROUS

Editor of the Ghanaian Lens newspaper, Koby Fiagbe, has described the first six months of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo leadership in office as disappointing and disastrous.

According to him, despite the numerous time bound promises that then flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo made during the electioneering campaign, what the country is witnessing under his leadership today is rather the opposite.

“I was expecting that the time bound promises that then candidate Akufo-Addo made that certain things are going to happen within the first three or six months of his administration will come to pass.

But none of these have come to fruition. One of them is restoring Teacher Trainees Allowance and the Nursing Trainees Allowance within the first three months. So far all that we are hearing are promises, promises, promises,” he noted.

Another issue, he noted, which has been disappointing on the part of President Akufo-Addo is his failure to ensure that the general security atmosphere in the country after the December 7 polls is improved.

“There is general insecurity in the country and this is a function of leadership failure. Usually after elections, the security situation in the country goes down a bit but this one has gone beyond the first two or three months. So, that is very disappointing,” he added.

Mr. Fiagbe made this observation when interacting with Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa FM on Monday, July 17, 2017, over the performance of President Akufo-Addo in his six months in office.

The President has extended an invitation to all media houses to the Flagstaff House where he is expected to interact with them on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, over his performance in office over the period.

Fiagbe who manages a newspaper that is heavily aligned to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) commenting further said he finds it so disgusting to see the continues fall of the Cedi against the major international trading currencies, especially, the US Dollar despite the numerous promises by then running mate to Akufo-Addo, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who is now the Vice-President of the land.

“They made us believe that they are so much competence that they will perform magic as soon as they come to power – that we will see a certain drop in the cedi-dollar relationship. That the cedi will appreciate against the dollar. But ultimately what we are seeing today is the reverse and there are fears that by the end of the fourth quarter, the cedi will be hitting 5 cedis per dollar. So, these are all things that are disappointing to us. Electricity bills keep soaring against the promises they made during the electioneering campaign and this is disastrous.”
